With the completion of LTE standardization procedure, LTE system will be commercially deployed all over the world in the next few years. Due to the limitation of frequency resources, LTE and wireless communication systems may be deployed in adjacent frequency bands in the same geographical area. Since the communication transmitter and receiver RF characteristics are nonlinear, the two systems may interfer each other and lead to system performance degradation. So it is of great importance from both academia and industry aspects to focus on coexistence study and figure out how to arrange the frequency bands and plan the network topology. On the other hand, traditional macro cellular networks design method may not satisfy the LTE indoor coverage. Femto (also called HNB or HeNB) networks become a novel solution. Multi-layer hybrid wireless communication networks can improve system performance but may make the inter-system interference more complicated. The traditional redio resource management methods may be not sufficient for such networks. So it is gaining popularity in such valuable topics on resource allocation and interference management techniques in LTE macro cell and femto cell two tier networks.Based on introduced above, this thesis focuses on the coexistence study and interference management between LTE and wireless communication systems. Firstly it researches on the coexistence between LTE and WCDMA/LTE-Advanced systems allocating in adjacent frequency bands. And then it studies the interference analysis between LTE and ARNS (Aeronautical Radio Navigation Service) systems. In the end, the paper proposes an interference management algorithm in LTE macro cell and femto cell heterogeneous networks. Both theoretical analysis and system level simulation approaches are used to evaluate the system performance when LTE and WCDMA coexist. All the results are analyzed synthetically to give conclusions and suggestions. For the coexistence study between LTE and LTE-Advanced systems, the LTE-Advanced transmitter spectrum mask and ACIR model are mainly investigated. The required isolation to ensure the coexistence is also given. For the interference between LTE and ARNS system, three different network layouts in urban, suburban and rural environment are discussed and the final results and conclusions are given through extensive system level simulations. Finally the thesis proposes a novel dynamic resource allocation algorithm to maximum the total throughput of LTE macro cell and femto cell networks. Two femto cell deployment models including suburban model and dense dual stripe model are introduced. Moreover the algorithm is discussed and analyzed in detail. System level simulation is used to evaluate the algorithm performance, and the results show that the two tier network throughput is clearly increased based on proposed algorithm.
