With the penetration of mobile devices increasing and the Internet technology developing, more and more users surf the Internet by mobile devices. The physical properties of mobile devices are quite different from that of traditional computing devices such as PC. There are also many differences between the usage scenario of them. Recent years, many manufacturers have been making an intense competition on the mobile device market by launching different kinds of mobile devices. Because of the differences in size, usage scenario and operation, the tendency of product fragmentation is obvious. It’s now a great challenge to the user experience design of mobile devices. This issue is made on the basis of diversity of mobile devices. By making fundamental research on relevant concepts, systems, technologies and knowledge of user experience design, and making variety analysis on the differences of terminal interface characteristics, then combining it with experimental study of multi-platform interface, the issue comes up with a piece of principle of multi-platform interface design and a model of design flow. There is also a design practice according to the principle and the model. In the stage of variety analysis on terminal interface characteristics, this issue makes a research on the physical property, operation and usage scenario of different mobile devices, mainly on their influence on interface presentation, which is the base of the following principle and model. In the stage of interactive analysis on adaptive interface, an experimental research has been made by using three different kind of common layout across terminals. The influence of multi-platform adaptive interface’s layout and navigation mode on the efficiency of visual exploring and searching is another topic. The conclusion of this experimental research has something to do with the user experience design for multi-platform. According to the conclusion above, the issue summarizes a piece of principle of multi-platform interface design and builds a model of design flow. This model divides the design flow into five parts:Analysis, Concept, Development, Prototype and Evaluate. These five parts make the design flow into a closed loop. The design flow is also directed and affected by the principle and diversity of different devices. In the end, a design example is made on the basis of the principle and model, which can prove both the effectiveness and feasibility of the principle and model and the practical significance of this research.
