In order to ensure the safe navigation of aircraft and predict the possible risk of futuremission, airborne data storage divce needs to record large amounts of flight test data in realtime and unload them when the aircraft lands, then these data are provided to the relatedinstitutions to study. At present, the common type of the data storage system is designed basedon standard bus, which has the advantages of convenient operation, strong flexibility, easy toimplement, etc. But as an airborne divice, the system still appears such problems as anunstable operating system and limited data transper rate. Combined with the requirements ofthe specific project, a dual channel airborne data storage syetem based on FPGA is designedin this paper, which is used to receive and record two different kinds of airborne radar testdata. The overall system is designed with modular concept. Cards are made to realize the datarecord modules, and either of the cards has an independent fuction. Then the cards areconnected with system board through custom interface, they are co-managed by the boardcontrllor FPGA. The structure and function of the system are described from two aspects:hardware and software. This paper introduces the specific design and realization of eachmodule, which includes interface circuit, isolation circuit, control circuit and memory circuitof the data storage cards, and the board contrl circuit, Ethernet interface circuit, etc. System isdesigned without any standard bus and operating system, data can be received and recorded intwo channels at the same time. Thus, the problems of storage system based on bus are solvedto a certain extent. Finally, ground simulation test and aircraft test are conducted to verify the reliability ofthe system. The results show that this airborne data storage syetem has an ability to record thedata accurately, and its performance satisfies the requirements of the design indicators.
