Due to rapid development of the Hospital Information System (HIS) in China, patient-oriented hospital management information system based on HIS are evolving into highly effective and efficient over the years.Its service quality could directly impact on a hospital’s reputation and reflect overall standard of the service provider. Increasing demands were made after many years of the system application, such as sharing of medical information between medical staff and patients, which is one of the weak links in the process of achieving hospital digitization. The processes of traditional doctor workstation is so complicate that doctors and nursers need to write text by relying on their memory or simple notes hand-written. It resulted in many errors and wasted a lot of energy to do nothing with medical. There is an urge to improve the system in order to better facilitate medical staff through spontaneous access of medical history, prompt medical diagnosis and accurate recording of patient’s medical condition.This thesis analyzes application of hospital’s existing doctor workstation system by studying practical needs and application of automated information system used by healthcare and other industries. It further elaborates the processes of design and implementation of mobile doctor workstation system in terms of system architecture, application modeling, design methodology and key information technology involved.This thesis firstly elaborates the current status of hospital doctor workstation flow. It also analyzes and compares the existing condition and development of local systems against those abroad so as to conclude the active demand of mobile doctor workstation system for hospital information system. The thesis further explains the problems and challenges of existing doctor workstation under rapid hospital digitization progress. This thesis details the design methodology and concept of mobile doctor workstation system through use of certain critical technologies such as synchronous replication technology of the database, wireless local area network and other related computer technology, the structure of Sybase ASE, TSQL language standards. Application model of the system is built with PB into a C/S structure, which is later introduced together with its detailed text module and courses of actual implementation. The project of mobile doctor workstation passed tests and successful trial run. It did well currently to meet the actual needs of medical personnel.
