Inkjet printer technology has been paid attention by more people recently. Inkjet printer technology is widely used in not only the traditional paper printing but also commercial manufacture. For example, inkjet printer technology have been widely used in manufacturing OLED, OTFT, solar cell, etc. It is the widespread use that requires the accuracy of the droplet detection.Because the droplet is small and fast, the traditional detection would bring error inevitably. This article puts forward an image capture method with camera and an automatic detection algorithm based on image processing techniques. We collected accurate droplet image and detected precise parameter by these methods.This article introduces some kinds of inkjet printer technology and the background firstly. Then we achieved the image capture of high speed droplet by the means of controlling the signal of camera, generator, led, PC. And we collected the accurate droplet image successfully. Finally, the droplet images were saved in the form of video file. We extracted the contour of droplet with the help of homomorphic filtering, Otsu, Canny, edge detection, etc. With the contour of droplet, we could calculate speed and volume of the droplet, also could draw drop formation curves. We could describe the process of producing droplet with drop formation curves and images. Finally, we could guide the use of inkjet. This article puts forward a new automatic detection algorithm which synchronizes with driving waveform. This algorithm helps us study the influence of driving waveform easily. In this way, researcher would do research conveniently. Finally, this article would introduce the framework and the design of droplet detection software.
