As the development of droplet microfluidics, it has significant potential in many applications, such as foods, pharmaceuticals, thus online real-time observations and size detection of emulsion become important. In this paper, we combined machine vision with microfluidics, developed a microfluidics control system, which provides real time observation and analyses the size of emulsion. Details are as follows:1.Build and optimize the microfluidic experimental platform:Hardware platform is made of a microfluidic chip, injection devices (injection pump), the detection device (light source and camera);2. Build the framework of software:including the set of cameras, image capture, data storage, system calibration, multi-threaded programming, the overall interface design, the communications between hardware and software, record results;3. Image processing:we compared the experimental results of a variety of programs, select one of the optimal algorithm (central law curve method and local Hough), which is stable, fast, and accurate;4. Flow rate regulation:we designed fuzzy control method to realize the injection pump flow automatically adjusted so that the generated emulsion diameter stable within a preset range of diameters;5.Microfluidic experiments and analysis:Combine the software and hardware platform to do single emulsions, double emulsions microfluidic experiments and verify the accuracy, validity and stability of the flow rate control program then analyze the corresponding experimental results.
