Tibetans have been inheriting and promoting the rich culture they have created for thousands of years by generations after generations. In a world where the different fields prosper synchronously, the newly-developed mass media is prospering around the world.Considered as the most important part of the mass media, the television media has its widest audience, being one of the most important representative media means. China is a multiethnic country where every ethic group possesses its own culture. Along its development in the ethic regions, mass media has been, to some extent, affecting the local traditions and the folk culture.Tibetans also shouldn’t isolate themselves from the national and world development. As the mass media has become a vital part of Tibetan people’s lives, a way for inheriting and promoting Tibetan traditional culture should be explored with the advantages of television media.The thesis consists of four parts. The first part is the introduction of the development of Tibetan culture and television media and their relationship. The second part isabout the current development state of Tibetan culture in television media. The third part is the exemplary description of the advantages and disadvantages of Tibetan culture development in mass media. The fourth part is about the shortcomings and deficiencies of Tibetan culture development in mass media, and it also discusses the problems from three elements including Tibetan language education, relevant program establishment and the emphasis on the development and improvement of traditional cultural TV programs.finally,it talks the reflection on the development of Tibetan traditional culture in mass media.
