At present, the Softswitch-based Next Generation Network (NGN) is one of the researchhotspot in the communication industry. It has highly attracted the attention of the academia andindustry. With the Next Generation Network gradually mature, the methods of providing servicesbased on Next Generation Network are becoming dominant. Among them, the third-partyapplication-offered method is more popular with operators and developers because of its abstractservice-opened technology, especially Parlay X Application Programming Interface(API)havealready been the main open service interface and been accepted in the telecom industry.In recent years, the video surveillance system is widely used in different fields, at the sametime, it is also facing new requirements and challenges. At most time there would be several servicesystems applied in one company, such as video surveillance system, video conferencing system etc.It comes to be a trend that all different service platforms combine or integrate together. Thatrequests higher compatibility and extendibility of the video surveillance system. In this thesis, byusing the next generation network, video surveillance system is designed based on Softswitchtechnology. Based on the Softswitch System and Web Service, it provides a general videosurveillance platform. So it has advantages in system management and expand.Firstly, the research background and significance of the subject are introduced, and then thecurrent research status at home and abroad is overviewed, also the difficulties in the researchprocess are discribed. Based on these, the content of this thesis is proposed by the author.Secondly, relevant theoretical of NGN and the business layer convergence is introduced in thethesis, also the Parlay X standards and the Web Service technology used in system design areresearched, the business layer convergence scheme is put forward based on the Parlay X API. Onthe basis of this scheme, combining with the existing video surveillance system, the author designthe video surveillance system based on Parlay X Web Service. In particular, the author analysis anddesign the client, service and front-end monitoring module.Finally, after completing all of the design of the system, this thesis implementes and tests theprototype system with the SOAP message processor of Axis under the development platform ofEclipse. This design has been verified which implement monitoring business integration on thegeneral background of network convergence.
