In recent years, with the coming up of the concept of "Internet of things",the Internet of things technology has been under high tide of research in most countries. According to the characteristics of Internet of things nodes in the network layer network, mobile ad-hoc network technology is very suitable for application in the Internet of things for its own self organizing, support mobility, good robustness, and the advantages of the anti-destroying ability, which has a broad prospect of space, and also caused the wide attention of many researchers.Although nowadays there have been many research results about mobile ad-hoc network technology, but it is obvious that there are still many deficiencies remaining to be solved when the existing network protocol used in the application of the Internet of things. For instance, the existing routing protocol is usually based on hop count standard when choosing the route, without consideringthe nodes’energy, processing capacity and other factors whichare usually theconstraints of the entire network performance. In order to solve theseproblems, this paper firstly studied the related mobile ad-hoc network routing protocols, and mainly analyzed the operation principle and the advantages and disadvantages of AODV routing protocol. In order to make it more suitable for the application of Internet of things, related improvements about the AODV routing protocol have been made in this paper. On the one hand, in the routing discovery phase, the node energy factor has been introduced, so that the selected nodes will have relatively sufficient energy. On the other hand, whenthe intermediate nodes forward data packets, the application of network coding technology, reduces the number of data packets greatly which have to be forwardedby the intermediate node. Through the network simulation, the results show the new NAODV routing protocol has a significant boost in network performance indicators, which are consistent with the theoretical analysis, making the new route protocol more suitable for the application in the Internet of things.
