Research And Application Of E-Learning Platform Usability Evaludation System

With the continuous development of the IT industry, software usability has got more and more attention. The so-called usability is about whether users are able to use a certain software easily. Now in the process of software development, usability evaluation is an indispensable part. It uses testing means to get the testing data, scientific methods to analyze the data, and then get the evaluation value of software usability. According to the evaluation value, we can tell whether the usability quality of the product could be satisfied. In order to carry out a comprehensive evaluation, standardize the quality characteristics by establishing a usability evaluation system is also one of the key research direction in many domestic third-party evaluation institutions.As society is developing, people often need to continue learning new knowledge or skills after leaving school. In this case, distance education and e-learning are their best choice. E-learning platforms also emerged, and became one of the most important distance learning mode. Currently, research of usability evaluation on e-learning platform is still scarce. The e-learning platform usability evaluation system not only can be applied to the usability evaluation of similar platform systems, but also can be a reference for other software systems. The evaluation system can be helpful in improving the usability quality of e-learning platforms and other similar software systems.This paper is based on domestic and international standards for usability. According to the characteristics of e-learning platform, core functional properties are summarized. Then we constructed a usability evaluation index system for e-learning platform, with evaluation methods for each index detailed. On this basis, we discussed how to use the analytic hierarchy process for the analysis and evaluation of the index value. As a practice, the final chapter applied the above e-learning platform usability evaluation system on the usability testing for three target sites, and got the comparison results.
