Due to the academic monopolization and other problems, Traditionalacademic journals and paid electronic journals are suffering from a seriouscrisis. At the same time, funds shortage and lack of storage space forliterature pushed the library to make the transformation. In this environment,Open Access, one new publishing model emerged in developed countries.Compared to the open access of other countries, which is coming to maturity,Chinese open access is in the infancy. So we urgent need to learn fromforeign experience, so that our open access can get rapid development.First of all, in this thesis, based on the implementation mechanism andcommon protocols, combined with the research result of domestic and foreignscholars, the definition of open access has been redefined. Then, by using theSWOT analytical method, this paper does qualitative and quantitative analysison external opportunities, threats and internal strengths, weaknesses ofChinese open access. At last, based on the analysis of the SWOT matrixstructure and the actual case of Springer, this paper makes a depth analysison SO, WO, ST, WT.This paper is divided into five chapters: The first chapter mainly proposesthe background of this research. Besides clearing the object of study is theopen access of Chinese academic journal and Springer Open AccessJournals. And then, this chapter summaries the research status of openaccess; the second chapter open access overviews the open access, basedon the implementation mechanism and common protocols, by discussing theresearch result of domestic and foreign scholars, the definition of open accesshas been redefined; the third chapter introduces the development status ofSpringer, which pave the way for later case studies; the fourth chapteranalyzed the implementing open access in Chinese academic journals fromthe strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, which are the fouraspects of SWOT; the fifth chapter is based on the SWOT matrix structure,combined with the experience of Springer, analyses the SO, WO, ST, WT. Atthe same time, reference to the experiments of Springer open access, this chapter makes some suggestions for Chinese open access. The last is theconclusion which evaluate on the whole research work and describes thefuture research objectives.
