Recent years,with the demands of wider bandwidth,higher signal processing speed and smaller space in telecommunication fields, achieving signal conversion and transmission work has become more difficult from Network layer to Physical layer.1Gbps MAC protocol processing rate in system and other targets are high standards for the research and desing of hardware boards.At the beginning of the thesis, the industrial computer technology is analyzed. Then, the thesis expressed the high and advanced performance of MicroTCA architecture, AMC module established the background of the research of the multi-core MAC Protocol Processing Board The role and the challenge of multi-core MAC Protocol Processing Board, which is a part of MicroTCA Communication Technologies Platform, are also expressed clearly.Secondly, with the requirement of multi-core MAC Protocol Processing Board,analyze the problems in the past MAC Protocol Processing scheme. Based on the analysis the general framework of multi-core MAC Protocol Processing Board is defined. Then, the selection of key devices and interface protocols are made. And the general scheme of multi-core MAC Protocol Processing Board is proposed finally.Then the functional modules in multi-core MAC Protocol Processing Board is designed according to the general scheme, including the FPGA, PowerPC,CPLD,10Gigabit Ethernet interface and modules, configuration modes, clock distribution network,and power system.In addition, the signal integrity problems of XAUI bus, single lane data rate of which is3.125Gbps, on multi-core MAC Protocol Processing Board are analyzed and solution is proposed. Then the test result of the solution is described.Finally, the conclusion and some ideas for future work in MAC Protocol Processing Board are summarized. The thesis designed the multi-core MAC Protocol Processing Board based on the MicroTCA architecture successfully,which can proccessing1Gbps peak data rate of the MAC protocol. In this platform, MicroTCA, high MAC protocol processing rate and high speed serial transmission technologies are used, which also represent the developing trends of the hardware system design.
