Abstract/Summary:
With the rapid development of wireless access technologies, more and more mobile users expect to access to the Internet anytime and any-where. Therefore, mobility support is necessary for the development of next-generation Internet protocol. Meanwhile, current mobile devices are almost equipped with multiple network interfaces, e.g.3G and WiFi. Accessing to multiple heterogeneous network domains simultaneously become increasingly common. So it is important in both research and practical to study how to effi-ciently use the network resources to provide better services for mobile users.As the most promising next-generation mobile network-side mobility management protocol, Proxy Mobile IPv6(PMIPv6) has been adopted by WiMax,3GPP, etc. However, the existing studies on PMIPv6protocol are mainly focused on a single accesss cenario; the scenario that the mobile node (MN) has multiple network interfaces accessing to PMIPv6domain has not been perfectly studied. For this reason, in this paper we focus on the multi-access extension to Mobile IPv6. The main research contents of this paper are as follows. Firstly, we design a protocol to support intelligent flow mobility for PMIPv6. As the topological anchor point of the network, LMA can adjust the network flow to be transport on the best interface of MN according to user poli-cies, network conditions, and type of network flows. Secondly, we propose a seamless handover scheme for multi-interface mobile nodes in PMIPv6. In this scheme, non-handover interfaces are used to help to process the packet trans-port on handover interface. Hence MN can continue receiving/transmitting da-ta during the handover process, which can reduce the data transmission delay and packet loss. Finally, we analyze and design localied routing optimization scheme for multiple-access MN in PMIPv6. In this scheme, LMA can op- timize the packet transportation path between two MNs and schedule the net-work flows to the best path according to the interface access conditions of MNs. This scheme can reduce data transmission delay and increase the utilization of network resources.
