A network-based mobility management protocol, which is called the Proxy Mobile IPv6(PMIPv6), is being standardized by the IETF NetLMM in August2008. PMIPv6protocol is intended for providing network-based IP mobility management support to a MN, without requiring the participation of the MN in any IP mobility related signaling. The mobility entities in the network will track the MN’s movements and will initiate the mobility signaling and set up the required routing state. However, the current specification of Proxy Mobile IPv6defines basic operations for registration, deregistration, and tunnel management. PMIPv6still suffers from handover latency and packets loss during a hangover When an MN moves from one MAG to another MAG.Thererfore, this paper presents a seamless handover scheme for PMIPv6, in which the Local Mobility Agent can bicast the data packets to the old and new MAGs toward MN, when MN is in the handover region. By this way, the handover performance can be enhanced. The main job is as follows:First, Analysis the handover signaling processes of Proxy Mobile IPv6, depth study the fundamental cause of handover problems.Second, to the question of Proxy Mobile IPv6handover, we present an improved scheme BPMIPv6. In the proposed scheme, the network node can emit trigger when it is in the common area of two MAGs. The network begins to do prepare for the MN, and the Local Mobility Agent can bicast the data packets to the old and new MAGs toward MN simultaneously. Moreover, analyzes its handover performance, further discusses its key technology problems.Third, studys the functions of each network node of the proposed scheme. According to the additional functions of network nodes, we add some fields for the signaling messages, in order to satisfy the requirements of this scheme.Fourth, the experiment was validated by the Network Simulator, and the simulation results were analyzed.Experimental results show that, the proposed scheme can not only significantly reduce delay time and the packet loss, but also improve the handover performance.
