The wire and cable industry is a very important part of national economy in china. Itbelongs to the supporting industries, through years of development, it ranks second place,only after automobile in the machinery industry in China. The wire and cable manufacturingenterprises in China has been up to more than7000, and its annual GDP has more than onetrillion yuan. At present, severe overcapacity and fierce competition in this industry lead tothe reconstruct and upgrading of the field. Industry reshuffle has begun. In suchcircumstances, the wire and cable companies, especially those in small and medium-sized canonly survive by standardizing enterprise management, improving the level of operation andmanagement, improving the management efficiency of management, and creating enterprisecore competitiveness. It is a wise choice to implement ERP system to improve the responsespeed of enterprise to the market, enhance enterprise core competitive ability, reduce businessoperating costs, and eventually improve the efficiency of the enterprise via the informationintegration.But in recent years, the application and popularization of ERP in the wire and cableindustry is not going very well, especially in some small and medium-sized enterprises. Thecharacteristics of the industry, product and process make some enterprises which haveimplementation of ERP project in can’t achieve the desired effect. Therefore,(consideringthe characteristics of wire and cable industry, the characteristics of product and process anddifferent market demands, according to the implementation achievements and existingproblems of some ERP projects in some enterprises, and combined with the implementationof Xiangtan Cable ERP Project, study and solve some problems in the process of ERP projectimplementation in the wire and cable enterprises, form a set of the ideas and methods of ERPProject Design and Implementation in wire and cable enterprises, and provide experience andreference value to the industry companies through the successful implementation experienceof Xiangtan Cable ERP Project.)This paper, starting from the practical management of Xiangtan Cable, combining withsoftware engineering knowledge, mainly introduces the implementation ideas and methods ofXiangtan Cable ERP Project. At first, it expounds the demand, purpose and significance of the ERP Project Construction from the development strategy of Xiangtan Cable and (appliesthe idea of ERP process reengineering to enterprise business process design and optimization.)Then the paper describes ERP system implementation method selection, project design,project implementation, implementation effect and personalized application etc. in detail,according to the management theory and method of value engineering, software projectmanagement theory and method. Finally the paper sums up the experience from the wire andcable enterprise ERP design and implementation of the project, especially in Xiangtan cableERP successful implementation of the project, which has the actual reference value andsignificance to enterprises which prepare to implement or are implementing ERP enterprise,specifically to small and medium enterprises.
