In recent years,the world’s blind population growth fast, China is one of thecountries that have the largest number of blind.Because of visual impairment, travelbecame the enormous challenge the blind had to face. At the same time,the techniques thatsolving help the blind to go out walking problem have emerged,namely electronic travelaids(ETA).This paper is based on the explore of sonification technology and ETA related sciencetechnology.Using auralization technology to the system to help blind,Combined the imageprocessing technology with audible technology. Aims to provide a equipment that moreconvenient,comfortable and practical for the blind. The main contents are as follows:The system uses camera to obtain real-time information about the surroundingenvironment, through computer image processing technology to extract information aboutthe characteristics of the environment, using sonification and ear tags to presentedenvironment information to the blind. In the blind identification process, through theanalysis and research of the real blind,first using an adaptive threshold segmentationalgorithm for image segmentation,then select the Canny edge detection operator to extractthe edge Blind,finally using hough transform to find qualified straight line.The obstaclerecognition,mainly uses multiple corrosion algorithms and centroid calculation extract thelocation of the obstacle. Established a data voice mapping model in the sound mapping.Proposed frequency, combination of frequency and loudness, duration, combination ofduration and loudness four voices mapping scheme.Proved the advantages of two voiceparameter indicates the data representing one voice parameter. By controlling the twoparameters of voice to achieve Auralization.Experimental results show that the proposed of blind edge extraction algorithm in thispaper can accurately detect the edges of most blind. And the use of two sound parameters toachieve auralization than use one sound argument to distinguish. This system can be wellaccepted by the blind,which provide convenient travel for the blind,to improve the livesof the blind.
