With the increment and more attention of visual impaired people, Visual impaired travel aids is advanced. It provide environment information to visual impaired people through touch or sonification, it assists visual impaired people in independent, safe orientation and mobility while walking. The research of visual impaired travel aids is interdisciplinary, crossed and significative. It improve the communication and cooperation of the academician of ergonomics and other fields. In the article, we design a model of travel aid system-AudioGuider for visual impaired. We tied GPS, GIS( Geographic Information System), image processing technology and auditory display technology in the scheme. AudioGuider can provide immediate environment information to the visual impaired. The system use improved Dijkstra algorithm and image processing algorithm to provide reliable path and blind way information, the environment information transmission can also be realized by sonification. System is developed on PDA from humanistic angle, it is simple in structure, easy to carry, easy to use and low cost.At last, we assess some mapping about orientation with questionnaire survey and test, the results show that the Data-Sound mapping has the most relativity between real data and sound data. It will help visual impaired people understand the information of the environment more quickly and effectively, it is high satisfaction, high probability of distinguishability and short time of responses. The user listening model of AudioGuider is better than the current systems.
