In recent years, China’s urban construction has achieved a rapid development. With the rise of that in a large scale, urban infrastructure construction, as theimportant support of the level of development and civilization, shows increasinglyprominent contradictions in the process of engineering construction. For instance, the engineering design drawing can only be understood by those who have certainexpertise. However, the engineering project needs higher social involvement, leadingto difficulties in communication. In addition, staffs in the project management unitsoften require long-term training and technical support, while those in thedevelopment and construction units are limited in number. From the perspective ofnational defense, in the process of long distance mobility of army, tunnel isundoubtedly the best place to avoid the detection of enemy’s satellites because of itsinvisibility and characteristics of go along with stop. However the accuracy ofmilitary operation requires that we should grasp the specific environment of targetedfield in advance. To solve these problems above, taking a tunnel project as anexample, this thesis applies virtual reality technology to design and implement atunnel virtualized display system based on Web. The specific work we haveaccomplished is as follows:1. The research on virtual reality technique. The research on the development ofvirtual reality technique, the relevant research status at home and abroad has beenmade. So it is with that on the advantages and disadvantages of the main currentvirtual reality technique OpenGL, Direct3D, VRML and Java3D. The author hasdeeply studied Java and Java3D, which include the modeling approach of Java3D,Scene Graphs Structure, View Platform, View Object and Mouse-keyboardInteraction etc..2. Demand analysis and design of virtualized tunnel display system. This thesishas carried out the thorough investigation on the problems existing in the design, approval, modification of engineering project and the training of the staffs, and theavailable and functional demand analysis of virtualized tunnel display systemat every stage. According to its analysis, the thesis made a design of each system modules by using of software engineering approach.3. The realization of Web-based virtualized tunnel display system. This thesishas designed the system architecture, in which the JSP was the presentation layerbased on the three-tier structure J2EE, and the Applet was the logical layer. Thethesis has also implemented the three-dimensional scene of system through thecombination of Java3D and3D Max. The realization of system functions wasadopted the method of writing Applet program in Java3D and embedding it in J2EEframework. This system has passed final tests. This system presented in the thesis offered applications of virtual roaming andanalog control in the virtualized tunnel environment. And the system tried to providean idea for solving the problems of high professional quality requirement of staffs inthe design and assessment phase of projects, and the lag and high cost for managers’training in later period. It has practical significance for national defense construction.
