China is an agricultural country of scarce water resources.The flood irrigation waysover the years caused serious waste of water resources.Therefore,it is imperative to adoptthe intelligent water-saving irrigation.Soil moisture information is the important basis forwater-saving irrigation,so getting accurate information timely is particularly important.With the development of information technology,ZigBee technology,as a protocolstandard of wireless sensor network,is increasingly mature,which can provide farmlandenvironment a stable,low-cost,low-power wireless communication scheme.Wireless SensorNetwork (WSN) is deployed in monitoring area of a large number of nodes which integratewith sensors,microprocessor and communication module.Each node collects data andtransmits to the PC through self-organization,and multihop routing,which achievesreal-time monitoring of target information.For the current demand for intelligent water-saving irrigation,and mature ZigBeewireless sensor network technology,this article designed a soil moisture monitoring systembased on ZigBee wireless sensor network.The system includes ZigBee wireless sensor nodes, the nodes can collect soil moistureinformation and sent the data via ZigBee wireless network to the PC,which makes peopleobtain real-time and accurate crop environmental information.The nodes can also receivevalve control commands from the PC.So the system can realize controlled irrigation.Each sensor node in the network can be used as a separate control unit,which canrealize the data acquisition,display,and transmission.It can also judge the collected data toupper and lower limits,to determine whether the valve is opened or closed.So the systemcan realize the automatic irrigation control of the soil.Software part mainly consists of gateway node and sensor node,which introducessimple ZigBee network process,as well as the transmission mode of ZigBee network,anddetailedly introduces software design schemes for the gateway node and sensor nodes.Through the actual installation,debugging and running,the experimental results verifythe network transmission of the system is reliable,and can cover the whole irrigation area.Ithas the stability, the rationality and practicability.
