Production the management in the orchard, Environment on growth and development of fruit trees, cultivation technology implementation, prevention of pests and diseases have an extremely important influence. Among them, the impacts of soil moisture on the fruit trees are particularly important. Soil moisture is an important component of fruit trees and the foundation of all biological life activities. Changes in soil moisture which directly affect fruit development and quality, is extremely important to the fruit growth, survival and others, According to a survey and analysis of local orchards and growers, the results showed that the collection of soil moisture information commonly used by artificial means, which are generally used chemical methods to directly observe or experience the orchard situation by staff. Due to the heavy workload, time-consuming, labor-intensive and timeliness-poor, the end result is vulnerable to interference. Difficult to guarantee real-time monitoring and effectiveness. Technically and economically speaking, it's very backward. Due to foreign products are technically mature, but the price is quite expensive, universities or research institutes can accept, while ordinary farmers are difficult to accept. A part of our products can only be a simple information collection, processing and transmission, while does not have long-range wireless data transmission and intelligent control. As a result they can not meet the requirements in some cases. To this end, comprehensively using sensor technology, wireless communication technology and fuzzy control technology, developing a monitoring system of soil moisture meeting Chinese consideration, which has functions with rapid extraction of soil moisture information, remote data transmission and intelligent monitoring irrigation, to Create a suitable environment for the growth of fruit trees has been imperative.This paper has systematically analyzed both on the background and significance of monitoring system and on the development status at home and abroad. Based on the actual state of the orchard environment, for the features of inconvenience wiring and long-term unattended monitoring, for its long-term unattended monitoring features, propose a data remote transfer program using GSM module by the way of short message and carry out a system trials about reliability and correct rate of data transmission. This paper overall planed the whole monitoring system structure and developed a soil moisture collection, data transmission and control program. Monitoring system is mainly used low-power chips, which is core of MSP430F149 microprocessor and adopt interrupt program. In the IAR development environment, using C language to complete the main program, keyboard scanning, display, data acquisition, GSM transceiver and other short program design achieve acquisition and processing information of soil moisture and irrigation flow on time, wireless data transmission and alarm, and fuzzy control automatic irrigation. Meanwhile, the monitoring system can display real-time soil moisture information by the 12864LCD module, set system variable parameters by 4x4 keypad module and store 30000 pieces of data information by FM31256 chip.The monitoring system with low power consumption and unlimited data transfer characteristics can realize 24-hour monitoring and effective control. At the same time it powered by batteries and solar power to meet the special occasion's needs of the orchard can achieve the desired purpose.
