With the increasing requirements to the quality of production and domestic water inrailway system, the railway water supply system has been developed into a large systemcovering national railway network in a rapid way. The railway water supply has thecharacteristics of more water supply points, long water supply length, dispersed watersupply, small water supply scale, more post occupancy, etc, and the existing water supplymethod relying on three-shift attendance at many water supply links is facing many problems,such as great water loss, difficult detection of device hidden danger, unable to alarm timelyafter fault occurrence or to realize accurate statistic of water amount and other parameters, etc,so the establishment of a centralized monitoring system for water supply based onconfiguration software and PLC is a feasible solution in this industry.In this paper, combined with the design and implementation project of the centralizedmonitoring system for water supply in Harbin Railway, we designed the process flow andmonitoring indicator system of centralized monitoring system for water supply in HarbinRailway, the function system of monitoring system for railway water supply including centralcontrol function, on-site monitoring and control functions, data communications function, computer information management functions, network management functions, etc, and thestructure of centralized monitoring system for water supply consisting of three level systemsi.e. primary monitoring system (Central control room of Harbin waterworks), secondaryscheduling system (division scheduling) and on-site monitoring systems (RTU), as well asthe system communication network in three levels i.e. on-site monitoring subsystem (primarynetwork), wireless data transmission network (secondary network) and superior managementnetwork (tertiary network) with combination communication mode of wired communicationsand radio data transmission communications. With the centralized monitoring module inHarbin Railway Water Purification Department as an example, we illustrated the design andrealization of centralized monitoring system software for railway water supply, andintroduced the system operation interface in the configuration software environment. Overtwo-year application practice proves the validity and effectiveness of the method proposed inthis document.In this paper, we carried out a deep analysis for the need of centralized monitoring forwater supply in Harbin Railway first and then designed a process flow and monitoringindicator system of the centralized control system for water supply, and then designed thestructure of centralized monitoring system and communication system, and finally illustratedthe design and operation of software of centralized monitoring system for water supply inHarbin Railway with the centralized monitoring module in Harbin Railway Water PurificationDepartment as an example.
