Since reform and opening up, China’s private economy has been developingrapidly. With the rise of the private entrepreneur class, the medium are involved in theconstruction of private entrepreneurs’ image. However, contrast to the hot mediapractice, related research is very anemic. Besides, the small amount of research resultshave some defects,such as the single research method and superficial study.This paper takes samples of private entrepreneurs report in Guangzhou Dailysince1979to2013as object of study. Through content analysis of news sources andthe topic of reports, and discourse analysis of the private entrepreneurs title andnarrative modes, it unfolds the change process of mediated image of privateentrepreneurs, which is from "policies supporting actors" to "principal entities ofeconomic activity" and then to "distinctive political activists". It is also an analysis ofthe news framing and news discourse in construction of mediated images. Theintroduction of "Field Theory" is to reveal the power factors, such as political,economic and media organizations impact on news production. Finally, the author putforward some suggestions for improvements in news production.
