The Philippines was the earliest colonized country in the southeast Asia and afterindependence in1946, the Philippines set up a political system of separation of powers the samewith U.S.A, regarded as the window of the American Democracy. However, the colsest parallelto the American model, its democratization process is not so bright as people expected. Thesustained military coup, political instability, economic recession has brought the Philippinessociety and people’s disastrous trauma. The so-called “people power revolution” broke outconstantly. The development of the Philippines journalism went up and down as the complicatedpolitical changes.This article mainly from the perspective of media and political relations to reasearch thePhilippines journalism. This article is divided into the following three parts: the first part, fromthe perspective of historical evolution in the Philippines to introduce the development process ofits political system. The second part, combing journalism development status and characteristicsof the Philippines, divided into the four periods as follow: the colonial period, the post-warindependence period, military martial law period, modern period. The Journalism suffered fromthe original Spanish colonial "full control" of government, and then "open" by the Americancolonial period, and then experienced the atrophy of the Japanese colonial period during thesecond world war, then the short boom after independence, then come to the marcos militarymartial law period of review "controls" again, then now flourishing gradually. The third part,analysing interactions between the political system and the Philippines media, and discussingthat how the political media in colonial and dictatorship political come to the media politicalunder the democracy politics.
