The Ethernet hasbecome the dominant in the LAN, IP/Ethernet LAN services occupy the majority.Therefore, EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Networks) was generated whichcollection of Ethernet and passive optical network technology’s advantages. It isbound to become the mainstream of access networks.In order to ensure the EPON equipment operation stably and the networkoperators grasp the equipment operating conditions and configure EPON servicesefficiently and conveniently. A high-quality EPON network management system isnecessary. EPON services configuration management is the core of the EPONnetwork management system，not only including EPON services configuration butalso involves synchronizing EPON network element equipment. Efficient DBAprovides strong support for the EPON services. Therefore, it is very important forEPON network management system to design a service configuration managementfunctions efficiently.The detail research has performed in this article about the design ideas andimplementation of EPON services configuration management and synchronizingEPON network element equipment. In this paper, the research contents are as follows:1. The article describes the background, system structure, advantages, keytechnologies of EPON and the framework of the EPON network management system.2. The details for researching the VLAN configuration and synchronizing EPONnetwork element equipment are parts of EPON services configurationmanagement.The design of EPON services configuration and ynchronizing EPONnetwork element equipment are analyzed in detail.Given the specific implementation.3. The details for discoursing and implementation about two technologies thatrelated with the services configuration and synchronizing EPON network elementequipment.They are EPON element equipment discover and dynamic bandwidthallocation. 4. Test the EPON network management system when the operator gives the testrequirements. Then provided some treatments to the EPON services configurationdepends on the result of the test.5.
