A Study On The Differences Between Zhe Version And Wu Yingdian Version Of Si Ku Quan Shu Zong Mu

Si Ku Quan Shu Zong Mu is an epitomizing work of bibliography. There are many mistakes in the book because it was compiled by many literatis hastily and it has been revised for many times. For such a big book, it is common that there are many versions. The relationship between Zhe version and Wu Yingdian Version is a focal point in academic field. Centered on History Branch of Zong Mu, this thesis which adopted the traditional method of the document science proofreading the tow versions word by word, analysizes the differences between the two versions.The first part is proofreading. There are some differences between the two versions. On the basis of an overall proofreading of the History branch of Zhe version and Wu Yingdian version, this thesis gives judgements. The second part compares and analysizes the differdences between the tow versions. After proofreading, conclusion has been reached that the Wu Yingdian version has more mistakes, compared with Wu Yingdian. This conclusion refutes the usual opinion of the academic field. By analyzing the differences between these two books, their different features has been figured out. The Zhe version values classics and the spirit of Confucian, accords great importance to accumulate virtue. While the Wu Yingdian version values pragmatism and drawing lessons from history. On the basis of these opinions, this thesis makes further analysis of the reasons of the differences and features. During the reign of Qian Long and Jiaqing, the genius of the literary world changed from respecting Neo-Confucianism to textology. On politics, after the case of Yin Jiaquan, the Emperor Qian Long paid more attention to attack cliques and advocated royalism. Therefore, the summary of Wu Yingdian version correspond more with the academic style and domination idea of that time. Based on the above analysis, Zhe version had been proofread seriously. As a result, many mistakes were rectified. Wu Yingdian version which was influenced by the ideology of Qian Long, has been changed largely and almost become a new version before publishing. Therefore, conclusion has been drawn:Zhe version is not a copy of Wu Yingdian version. The two versions with their own advantages and disadvantages complemented each other.The third part criticizes the deficiencies of the compiling version of Zong Mu after proofreading it. We hope it will conduce to the new version.
