Complete Library in Four Branches of Literature is an important tool to explore academic world, and it plays an crucial role in the history of Chinese catalogue. Today, the book has two primary versions, one is the Zhejiang version, the other is the Wuyingdian version. There are a series of arguments about the two versions, but still have no concordant conclusion. People have done a lot of proofreading, but it’s no perfect. The paper will focus on the branch of masters. In order to show the distinctions, I will do detailed textual research on the character and looking for the reasons of the differences.The voluminous work was finished by many people and it had been amended for many times in decades. Otherwise, politics intervened academic research at the same time. For various reasons, there exist many problems in the General Catalogue of the Imperial Collection of Four. In this paper, I will make a list of the title, arrangement, contributor differences and so on. It will provide some help to understand the origin relations. Then, I will search the differences of the versions, analyze the text and correct about400mistakes. Character, geography, literature, history are the four basic kinds of differences. Finally, the current simplified version has produced far-reaching influence, but it still has mistakes occasionally. The paper will do some proofreading job. In the future, a more perfect copy will benefit future generations.The two versions both have advantages and disadvantages, we should take them with a dialectical view.
