With the continuous development of network video communication technology and the needs of people’s life and work, video communication has gone through the stages of analog video communication and the second-generation digital video communication and developed into the network digital video communication nowadays. Additionally, such technologies as video acquisition, video codec and data transmission are becoming more mature. In this paper, based on the second-generation source standard AVS in China, a network of things video sensor server is designed and achieved on DaVinci platform and FPGA platform respectively; research and development of softswitch middleware system is done on Linux platform; the client software is designed on different platforms; a network of things video cloud system based on WAN is built.AVS network of things video cloud system supports the national audio video coding standard AVS of China, which can achieve real-time capture, encoding compression, network storage, WAN transmission and decoding display of video signals. It also supports SIP Session Initiation Protocol, RTP/RTSP real-time network transmission and streaming protocol, which will expand AVS encoder to the network of Things AVS video sensing server. And a softswitch middleware system is developed, realizing non-blocking streaming media softswitch between M AVS video sensing servers and N clients on WAN. Therein, the design of distributed middleware implements storing the historical data records obtained by M AVS video sensing servers on the network, enabling users to view the real-time video streaming and historical video data from M AVS video sensing servers anywhere and anytime; the design configures open source server OpenSIPS as the SIP server of the entire system, assists SIP to go through NAT gateways and pass the local area network restrictions and provides such functions as agents, registration, certification, billing, etc. Multi-screen display client of Linux platform, multi-screen display client of Windows platform and OMAP3530embedded client are designed to fully meet the needs of different users and form a network of things video sensor service cloud system. The system can be widely applied in the video surveillance of such places as museums, shopping malls, buildings, traffic crossroad, etc.
