After years of development, the video monitoring system has been developed to digital networked video monitoring stage now. The networked video monitoring system includes cable networked system and wireless networked monitoring system. In the cable monitoring system, video capture devices and clients access the network need hardware connection to access the network and the cost is high. Moreover, it is very difficult to wiring in some rural areas. So it has restrictions to develop and apply. However, wireless networked monitoring system transports data by wireless network and does not need wiring. It has many advantages, such as convenient wiring, high flexibility, low cost and so on. It becomes more and more popular between people and has huge market and application value.The paper realized the software design of server of intelligent wireless video monitoring system based on the project of "Intelligent Wireless Video Monitoring System". The paper mainly introduced the development of server module, including video server, media server and web server. The server was mainly responsible for the capturing, encoding, transporting the video and processing request messages. It was very important in the system. In this paper, the main work accomplished as follows:Firstly, video server was developed based on embedded Linux. It realized the capture, encode and transmission of the video using Davinci technology. RTP was used as transport protocol to realize the transport of the video. SIP was used as signaling protocol to realize the establishment and management of the session. Combined with the requirement of the monitoring system, we proposed using XML as SIP message body by comparing XML (Extensive Markup Language) with SDP (Session Describe Protocol). It conveniently realized PTZ control, alarm information query and OSD (On Screen Display) set etc.Secondly, media server was developed based on Linux platform, using SIP combines RTSP signaling structure. It used SIP as session control protocol and RTSP as media control protocol. It realized the storage and playback of the video.Thirdly, web server was developed based on PC, using CGI program to connect the database and profile, realized the configuration parameter’s query and modify, the media server running state and historical files information query, database query and alarm information query.Forth, the paper realized the design of self-adaptive dynamic QoS. The server used TFRC-FIT algorithm to calculate the encode rate according to the network parameters feedback by the RTCP. It overcame the reduction of the video quality and the system’s collapse caused by network’s congestion or the decline of the wireless channels.Finally, we tested the function and performance parameters of video server, media server and web server respectively. The results showed that all functions were realized and the performance reached the requirements of the demand of the project.
