With the development of electricity system reform, the first priority in the development of grid companies has been switched from safety to the pursuing of efficiency while maintaining safety. As a result, the improvement of management has become the goal of the next stage of development. As for the electrical energy information, the conventional electric power system collecting data via different isolated systems repeatedly, leading to low efficiency. In order to enhance the utilisation efficiency of electric power information and the administration level of grid companies, new thoughts indicate that an efficient method is to build a new administration system and design an effective administration process for electric power information based on the principle of information sharing.Based on the analysis of the status quo of China’s power grid enterprise energy information management system, we find out the problems of enterprise energy information management system as well as the reasons, and prove that the advantages and the applicability of business process thinking on the electric energy information management system. We then combine the system with the business process management theory to analysis the need of production, marketing, finance and other departments on electric energy information system. We research and design the practical and appropriate general model of electric energy information system and relating business processes, and theoretically explain the mechanism of electric energy information system design based on business process management. On this basis, we study and propose the electric energy information system service management model based on business process management, and suggest an appropriate grid electric energy information system construction plan, which suits the actual needs of enterprises.Finally, we use service-oriented architecture to build up electric energy information system model. Based on the real system model, case analysis targeting at the electrical energy information system was then performed through the following stages:model design, process implementation, process optimisation and procedure evaluation. The case analysis has proved the possibility and the practicability of using business process management to solve the common issues in the electrical energy information systems of the grid companies. It also proved the possibility and the practicability of the optimising and integrating the grid companies’ information resources of electrical energy through the application of business process management.
