Research Of LEACH Protocol For Wireless Sensor Networks

Nowadays, with the development of the internet of things, the technology of wireless sensor network has been innovating. Its development and wide application will make tremendous impacts on industry and generate huge boost.This paper first introduces wireless sensor network, and current research of WSNs routing protocols is summarized. Secondly, the basics of wireless sensor networks is introduced. By comparing different routing protocols, the advantages and disadvantages of the various protocols are analyzed. Then, a detailed description of the LEACH protocol algorithm is given. LEACH protocol for wireless sensor networks is a classical clustering protocol, using means of choosing a node to be cluster head in turn to balance node energy consumption, combined with data fusion and sleep wake-up mechanism for the network to save energy and extend the network lifetime. Finally, by using ns2to simulate LEACH protocol, this paper analyzes the performance of LEACH protocol and proposed program LEACH-Ⅰ to improve the performance.
