From1990when Super Variety Show premiered up to now, Chinese TVentertainment shows have been developing for over two decades, and these shows haveexperienced four stages including the variety show period, game show period,educational show period and reality show period. TV entertainment shows havedeveloped particularly rapidly in recent years in our country, when various kinds of TVentertainment shows emerge in endlessly, which helps modern people whose pace oflife is rapid to cope with stress. Meanwhile, in the process of rapid development,numbers of issues arise because of the excessive pursuit of better ratings and economicbenefits. How to innovate on the basis of analyzing current developing situation of TVentertainment shows is an issue worth discussing.In the respect of program innovation, the programme Day Day Up on HunanSatellite TV has been widely acclaimed since it was launched in2008, for it is quitedifferent from other former entertainment shows. The contents of this TV show notonly involve entertainment but also extend to the traditional culture level, which bringsits function of teaching through lively activities into play. And the guests thisprogramme selects are more grassroots figures rather than entertainers, which is alsoquite distinct from other shows. It has its own characteristics as well in the selection ofTV presenters and audiences. From the perspective of this programme’s continuedsuccess, it is observed that independent innovation of programmes plays a quiteimportant role in the developing process of TV entertainment shows.Nowadays, several extremely hot entertainment shows inland all buy the patternsof foreign shows, which decreases the independent innovation of domestic TVentertainment shows to some extent. On the basis of researching local situations of ourcountry, TV programme producers ought to improve capability of independentinnovation, to brand the programme, to build complete industrial chain, to research anddevelop more programmes meeting the demands of our audiences, and to enhance thecompetitiveness of TV entertainment shows in our country.
