The Commercial Press was the largest publishing enterprise integrated withcompilation, printing and issue in the period of the Republic of China. Wang Yunwuserving as the general manager implemented scientific management method andachieved noticeable results in1930-1945. Even though suffered the catastrophe of the1.28Incident and eight years of the Anti Japanese War, The Commercial Press stillstands in the eastern. This thesis takes the human resource management of TheCommercial Press from1930to1945as the research object, and deeply probes intothe staff recruitment and transpose, the staff training and development, the test systemand measures for improving performance, the salary and welfare system and the laborrelations.This paper is divided into six parts:The first part summarizes The Commercial Press. It makes a brief introductionabout the establishment and development of The Commercial Press, analyzes thedevelopment and change of its organization structure, and briefly analyzes the generalsituation of its workers.The second part firstly discusses the preparation of recruiting staff——jobanalysis, and then analyzes its staff recruitment from aspects of staff recruitmentsystem, avoidance system, staff recruitment after the disaster of the1.28Incident andpractitioner employment, and analyzes workers transposition for several times duringthe Anti Japanese war period.The third part interprets the staff training of The Commercial Press from aspectsof organizing factory manager training course, distributing practitioners to exercise,conducting business workshop and training apprentices of Chinese typesetting. TheCommercial Press promoted staff development while it developed itself, andcultivated a large number of outstanding figures.The fourth part analyzes the employee performance appraisal system and themeasures for improving performance. According to different job categories, TheCommercial Press formulated comparable Working standards and assessedperformance accordingly. In addition, it improved performance through the measuresof strict management, employee motivation, making full use of machines andimproving Working methods. The fifth part discusses the salary and welfare system of The Commercial Press.This part expounds its quite comprehensive salary and welfare system which includedwage, bonus, allowance and pension, retirement pension, gratuity, vacation, andinsurance.The sixth part dissects the labor relations of The Commercial Press. This sectionelaborates its employment contract, discusses the measures for improving laborrelations, and analyzes the background, reasons, process, and solution of the dismissaldispute after the disaster of the1.28Incident in detail.Finally this paper generalizes the human resource management of TheCommercial Press from1930to1945, points out the effects of the scientific humanresources management to the company, the workers and the society. This thesissummarizes the successful experiences of the human resource management and theinspiration for today’s enterprises furthermore.
