| Due to various media belong to different cultural backgrounds and ideologies, their reporting methods and angles are different. The same character of different news media reported content and point of view are not the same. In December2011, North Korea leader Kim Jong-il’s death and the emergence of a new leader Kim Jong-un, it received the attention of the world media.This study used the content analysis and date statistics, compare and analyzed North Korea leader Kim Jong-un reported on the media coverage of Xinhua news agency and Yonhap news agency. As a result of analysis, understand the differences in the content and form between two news agencies of the Kim Jong-un reports. Also understand the reason for the existence of differences. In order to understand about the Kim Jong-un image shown in reports of the Xinhua news agency and Yonhap news agency, this study inductively extracted "leader image frames" based on the presidential portrayal frames study by Seol Won-tai. Through the comparison of their Kim Jong-un image frames, understand how they to think of Kim Jong-un, also understand their attitude and evaluation of Kim Jong-un. This partly reflects the fact that China and South Korea government of Kim Jong-un’s attitude and position.This study found that Xinhua news agency and Yonhap news agency reports that Kim Jong-un showed the considerable differences in the content and form such as the quantity of news articles, news sources, news types, themes of reporting, and coverage tones. Also they are showed considerable differences in leader image frame, Xinhua news agency’s news reports showed the supreme leader frame the most, and Yonhap news agency’s news reports showed the dictatorial leader frame the most. This shows that Xinhua news agency for Kim Jong-un’s attitude is positive, but Yonhap news agency for Kim Jong-un’s attitude is negative. The biggest reason for causing the difference is the different interests between countries.Finally, through this study we can raise the level of Xinhua news agency and Yonhap news agency reports, Also can strengthen the understanding between China and South Korea. |
