As the saying goes, food is what matters to the people. As a national veryimportant strategic reserve material, food plays an important role in the maintenanceof food market and social stability, ensuring the interests of farmers, national securityand other work. Our government has always put the storage and management of foodas a very important economic work. With the development and maturity of wirelesssensor network (WSN) technology, the intelligentize detection, control andmanagement of food reserve systems has become a reality.Changes in temperature and humidity are the main reasons of the changes in thequality of food storage, during the period of food storage, due to the changes inenvironment, climate and ventilation conditions and other factors, temperature andhumidity inside the granary will change dynamically, it’s easy to cause food rot,mildew or insect pest and so on. In order to ensure the smooth progress of grainstorage work, the primary problem is to strengthen the monitoring of temperature andhumidity inside the granary. Because of the traditional granary monitoring systemshave many defects such as wiring complexity, maintenance inconvenient and remotecommunication difficulties, in this article, ZigBee wireless communicationtechnology will be applied to the granary monitor system of temperature andhumidity, and put forward a kind of implementation which called the granarymonitor system of temperature and humidity based on ZigBee technology.The whole system consists of sensor collect node, control node, gateway and PC.The sensor collect nodes are used to collect the temperature and humidity data of thegranary, and they will process the data and wirelessly send it to the gateway. Thecontrol nodes are used for receiving contol commands from the gateway, and theycontrol the switching of relays by MCU and the relays can control the controlequipments of the granary work or not. The gateway is used for wirelessly send andrecive data, and the gateway can achieve the serial communication with PC. Here, the gateway is equal to the coordinator of ZigBee network, it’s responsible for theestablishment and maintance of ZigBee network. PC is mainly used to displayreal-time temperature and humidity data of the granary, and it can save the data.The main research contents and results of the work in this paper are as follows:(1)Introduces the research background and significance of the subject,meanwhile it introduces the research status of grain monitoring both here and abroadbriefly, and be sure the main research contents of the subject.(2)In comparision with some of the existing short distance communicationtechnology, highlight the superiority of ZigBee technology, and summarizes thecommunication stack, device types and network topology of ZigBee technology.(3)Because of the deficiencies in traditional monitoring system of grain, putforward the overall design of the granary monitor system of temperature andhumidity based on ZigBee technology, and designs the system hardware of eachnode, and shows the specific material object of each node.(4)According to the design of hardware circuit of each node in this paper, andthe ZigBee protocol stack–Z-Stack2007which provided by TI company, papercompletes the software design of each node. Meanwhile it uses LabVIEW to write aPC display interface so as to achieve the serial communication between gatawaynode and PC.(5)According to the design of the system software and hardware, debuggingthe whole system, and analyze the debugging results. Paper also shows theeffectiveness of this system, and basically achieves the intended goal.
