Study On Micro-radio Interaction Based On The Theory Of Interaction Ritual Chains

The rapid development of Internet used to be considered the upcoming ending oftraditional media such as newspaper and radio. Nowadays, however, traditional media likeradio are increasingly adapting to the media ecology where there are various of new media,bursting out unbelievable power day by day.After practicing on the initial stage with web broadcast, traditional radio has alreadymade a new kind of radio come true by creating micro-radio with microblog which can beused anywhere and is focused on interaction. The emphases on interaction by micro-radio,however, are mostly staying where they were, unable to make full use of the advantage of“listening while talking bar”.Using the theory of Interaction Ritual Chains by Randall Collins，which is the mostsignificant，Dramaturgy by Erving Goffman and The Spiral Of Silence theory by ElisabethNoelle-Neumann，this dissertation tries to analyse the lack of efficient interaction onmicro-ridio and the reality that the advantage of interaction platform is not fully taken，fromtheory to practice，in order to give some advice for micro-radio to lift the quality ofinteraction，during the process of which，research methods like documents analysis，caseanalysis and observational method are used.According to the theory of Interaction Ritual Chains by Collins, the establishment offocus of attention, the gain of emotional energy（EE）, and the creation and flow of symbolicresources are three most significant parts of a whole interaction ritual. The establishment offocus of attention is premise, the gain of EE is motive, and the flow of symbolic resources isapproach. A successful interaction ritual can increase the symbolic resources owned by thetwo sides, take the positive energy to a brand new level. A complete interaction ritual chain iscompleted by one interaction ritual after another.Emotional energy is the key concept of Collins’ theory of Interaction Ritual Chains，thekey element of extent of success and efficiency of an interaction ritual，as well as themotivation of micro-radio users who take part in one interaction after another. A successfulinteraction ritual can effectively increase the volume of EE acquired by interactionparticipators，while the acquisition of EE can be used to promote participators to participate inone interaction ritual after another. A complete interaction ritual chain can be completed bymany successful interaction rituals，which is the reason why micro-radio interaction can beactive from being quiet.Considering all of these, in order to lift the quality of micro-radio interaction and makefull use of its advantage of interaction, thus avoiding being “web broadcast version2.0”, whatwe should do now is to present the content of interaction as much as possible, making theelements of microblog much richer. Besides, the voice of those who use micro-radio as acommon means of interaction needs to be appreciated, only in which way can they feel more emotionally related to the process of interaction.
