With the rapid development of embedded devices, the Android system and itssoftware applications play an increasingly important role in the daily lives. A lot ofAndroid applications are still using a relatively traditional mode of human-computerinteraction. Most of them are lack of convenience, cannot make the interaction easily.The background of this article is a project-the development and applications ofembedded system based on the Android operating system. The main content of thepaper is one subproject-the Tesseract Optical Character Recognition system based onAndroid platform. The purpose is to provide the convenient and practical characterrecognition on embedded devices for users. The Optical Character Recognition andother related technologies are introduced, based on the description of the basicconcepts and features of the embedded system and the Android operating system inthis paper. The paper also includes the analysis of the software architecture of theOptical Character Recognition system, class diagrams, sequence diagrams andflowcharts were used to complete the functional design of the system. And the OpticalCharacter Recognition function is achieved in the Android platform in embeddeddevice. Finally, after the test of the Optical Character Recognition system, the paperanalysis and summaries the test results.According to the results of the functional test of the Optical CharacterRecognition system stated, the text recognition work can be completed correctly byour system. The whole system can effectively improve the convenience, which hasreached the predetermined design target.
