Along with the development of mobile communication technology, modern satellite communications had shifted from limited stationary services to land mobile applications, the vehicle-borne "mobile communication" satellite communication system is getting more and more attention. Phased array antennas are considered most suitable in mobile communication for its electric beam scanning ability.This paper discusses the realization of some Ku_band vehicle-borne "mobile communication" antenna system, combined with phased array technology and traditional servo technology, a new electronic beam scanning tracking Receiver based on FPGA is proposed, and it pay good attentions on the design and study of electric beam controlling and carrier tracking parts in antenna system.Firstly, the basic theory and the concept of auto-tracking system has been introduced, mainly explained the working principle and basic framework of tracking receiver. Then the general scheme of tracing system is discussed, including the design of satellite cmmunication link, the design of hardware platform of RF channel and tracking receiver, and each major components of the tracking receiver are detailed described.The signal processing algorithms referring to the synchronous demodulation, such as the IF sampling and the carrier acquisition and tracking was theoretically analysed, the signal model was established and the key parameters were simulated. Based on the simulation, the different tracking performance caused by the random noise was also simulated. Next, the engineering implementation of the base-band signal processing of the tracking system, mainly the FPGA algorithm was designed, including digital AGC, DDC, PLL, amplitude detection, error signal demodulation and etc. Finally, through detailed testing to obtain the specific experimental data, the experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of proposed engineering implementation the accuracy of simulations.The design of Tracking Receiver expatiated in this paper is a conclusion based on practice engineering project. At present, this project has been accepted by user, and this system runs well, which gains user’s good appraisement.
