| Technology is the driving force of social changes. With the rapid development of digital technology, digital publishing, as a new publishing format, has entered into the rapid development period. As early as the1970s, the U.S. publishing industry began to digital transition. At present, more than82percent of American publishing enterprises have launched eBook business. According to2012-2013Annual Report of China’s digital publishing industry, published by Chinese Academy of Press and Publication; in2012the total output of digital publishing industry reached193.549billion yuan, with year-on-year growth of40.47percent. The share of digital publishing industry over culture industry has been increasing, has become the strategic emerging industries and main direction of press and publishing industry. Readers’reading styles and reading habits are gradually changing caused by the development of digital publishing. Meanwhile, readers’reading needs act on digital publishing direction of future development. Market continues to segment, and many high-quality products and services have emerged. However, due to the special environment in China, it hasn’t formed a chain which is clear division and clear profit mode. Content providers, platform operators, terminal manufacturers and telecom operators have set foot in unfamiliar domains, copying or imitating foreign mature business mode blindly. What’s a worse, copyright practitioner are troubled by imperfect copyright system in China. Digital publishing in foreign countries is growing dramatically fast, while domestic enterprises are still waiting for a good chance. They hold a number of high-quality resources, few of which face the market in digital form. And other factors have also been restricting the healthy and rapid development of China’s digital publishing industry, such as the imperfect digital reading ecological environment and readers with low willingness to pay.This paper focuses on the study of the development mode of digital publishing. Paper is divided into six parts; the first part is the introduction, mainly introducing some related concepts on digital publishing and research status home and abroad. The first chapter introduces China’s macroeconomic environment and current situation, analysis relevant factors and mistakes restricting the development of China’s digital publishing industry. Chapter Ⅱ divides digital publishing business into three categories:traditional publishing companies, new media companies and mobile publishing companies and analysis their development modes individually. According to the former two chapters, Chapter Ⅲ explores development mode innovation of China’s digital publishing industry from development countermeasures and trends. Chapter IV explores readers’willingness to pay, based on readers’ reading needs and provides a new direction for the development of China’s digital publishing industry, jumping off the development mistakes. The final part summarizes the whole paper with four conclusions. |
