With the development of the Internet of Things and wireless sensor network technology,large-scale, high-density network layout becomes the development trend of wireless sensornetworks. Comparing to the single sink node wireless sensor network, design of multi-sinks hasshowed stronger adaptability in the data transmission reliability, node energy balance and otheraspects. This paper is intended to combine ZigBee’s advantage of low power, low cost andBluetooth’s advantage on the terminal access, design a data transmission system based on ZigBeeprotocoland Bluetooth protocol. The data transmission system takes the point-to-many ZigBee andBluetooth protocolconverter as the core, and uses a more reliable and robust system configurationof multi-sinks, which effectively broadens the application scope of ZigBee technology andBluetooth Technology.The key design of point-to-many ZigBee and Bluetooth protocol converter is the formatconversion of ZigBee packets and Bluetooth packets. The converter is consists of ZigBee RF,Bluetooth RF and SCM at the hardware level, and modules are connected by serial ports. Thepacket format conversion contains two steps:(1) SCM analyzes packet according to the format ofsource packet and gets the payload.(2) SCM packages the payload from step1according to theformat of goal packet.It will inevitably lead to problems such as address information loss and data rate mismatchingto introduce the ZigBee and Bluetooth protocol conversion into the multi-sinks wireless sensornetwork. To solve the former, this paper introduces a new design of data domain, which divides thedata payload into address information and data information. To solve the later, this paper designs adata buffer to queue and temporary store the data packet from different serials.The key design of multi-sinks wireless sensor network based on ZigBee protocol is to achievea sink node switching mechanism through the collaborative design of the sink node and sensornode. The mechanism allows the sensor node switch to another sink node to complete datainformation upload, which its current sink node fails. The design of sensor node and sink nodeneed to match the sink node switching mechanism.Finally, the experimental results show that, the ZigBee and Bluetooth protocolconverterbased on ZigBee protocol and Bluetooth protocol can convert ZigBee packets and Bluetooth packets effectively. The communication between ZigBee device and Bluetooth device has beenachieved. The actual application case of this paper also show that, the ZigBee and Bluetoothprotocolconvert is better integrated into the multi-sinks wireless sensor network; In the case, theadvantages of the multi-sinks design have been reflected, the system’s practicability has beenconfirmed too.In the paper, there is still insufficient in both design ideas and specific implementation. Thesignificant role in multi-sinks design of balancing node energy consumption has not been fullyreflected. In the design of sink node switching mechanism, the network environment has not beenconsidered to select the optimal sink node. In practice, problems such as the power supply ofsensor node and the mobile data terminal need to be solved.
