Abstract/Summary:
Wireless sensor network technology is being used in a very wide range of applications, facing significant security issues that have to be addressed. To overcome the security challenges from the intruders, mobile sinks have been introduced using basic probabilistic key distribution schemes. However, use of such schemes allows the intruder to acquire large number of keys by acquiring a small amount of nodes and can damage to the network. The damage can be caused by replicating the mobile sinks, by adding unnecessary malicious data to the network, or by removing important data from the network.;The current report presents a three-tier security scheme with mobile sinks, which uses a pairwise key pre-distribution scheme as its basic component. The proposed method uses two different key pools: one key is used for pairwise establishment in sensors, and the other key is used by the mobile sink to access the network. Through the proposed system, higher degree of network resilience to replication attacks is ensured when compared to the former single polynomial pool-based network.
