Industrial wireless technology, as a kind of special sensor networks, is an newly emerging wireless communication technology for managing the information interactions among devices, and is adaptive to the poor conditions of a industrial field, due to its outstanding characteristics, such as strong anti-interference ability, low-power consumptions, good real-time performance in communication and so on. At present, the widely-used industrial wireless technologies include WLAN, Bluetooth, and ZigBee etc.By researching Bluetooth communication protocol, we design an embedded network node with integrated A/D and DIDO functions, based on ARM9 and Bluetooth adapter. On the embedded Linux system in ARM9 platform, we write drivers for character devices, transplant BlueZ protocol stack, develop the communication program based on BlueZ, and finally implement the functions of searching devices, discovering service, establishing connection and transceiving data.According to ZigBee protocol framework and its technology features, we design a ZigBee coordinator and an endpoint device, with the function of light intensity data acquisition, by using MCU ATmegal28 and 2.4GHz radio frequency chip CC2420, which measures up IEEE 802.15.4. We write device drivers, transplant PICZstack protocol stack to AVR MCU, and design programs for the communication between the two devices. The ZigBee coordinator can build up a network, handle the requests of device association, binding or dissociation, and can retransmit data. The Bluetooth piconet, composed of master and slave nodes, accomplishes the controls from the master nodes to remote slave nodes. The ZigBee star network, composed of coordinator and endpoint devices, accomplishes acquiring and monitoring of light intensity signals in different locations. Through the testing of the two networks and the analyzing of the results, we conclude that the Bluetooth nodes, which has the advantages of fast-speed and high-quality in data transmitting and the disadvantages of high-power consumption and short of network topology, is suitable for the transmition of voice and video signals. On the other hand, the ZigBee nodes with low-power consumption and rich network topology and however, being low-speed, can be used for the transmition of controlling and acquisition data. The two technologies are solutions for different application areas and are complements for each other.
