The wireless sensor network Wireless sensor network is a network system, which is deployed by a large number of low-cost micro sensor nodes in monitoring area to perception, acquisition and processing the information in the monitoring area. Wireless sensor network technology is the current popular technology, emerging in frontier research fields, regarded as one of four highest technology industry in the future by the United States Business Weekly. Wireless sensor network technology has broad prospects for application in people’s life, production and entertainment, etc. As technology gradually mature, Wireless sensor network technology will cover the entire earth and become the interface between the entire physical world and the virtual world. If the Internet pulled close the distance between person and person, wireless sensor network is actually pulling close the distance between man and the environment. So that people can not only establish contact with others through the Internet anytime and anywhere, and at the same time can also acknowledge anytime perception of objective world through the wireless sensor network, becoming in the true sense to achieve the "no where not interconnected, no time not interconnected". Because of the sensor network will affect people’s life and production in every aspect, therefore the research of which is indeed necessary.The paper which is based on the purpose of wireless sensor network design, carrying on the thorough research in the hardware, operating systems and software three aspects, has designed a set of wireless sensor network platform, and finally verified the design through schemes of the experimental results. Among them, the hardware part lays emphasis on the research of wireless transmission and control chip selection and design, the design of the control module, power supply module design, external storage module design and other hardware parts finally built a complete hardware platform when the modules design is completed. The operating system part:firstly, verified the necessary of the wireless sensor network operating system, then studied the operation mechanism of TinyOS and how to use the nesC to program; Software design part:Study how to set up the development environment firstly, and then the driver design of each module and the corresponding application, and finally design the network communication protocol. The end of the article, verify the platform’s feasibility and reliability through the two experiments:one is the communication between two nodes, the other is a multipoint communication research, through the two experiments, the network’s feasibility and reliability has verified.
