With the rapid development of the sensor technology, the embedded technology, the communications and the semiconductor technology, wireless sensor networks (WSNs), as newly emerging technology of information acquisition and intelligent control has been highly emphasized by the military, academic and industry of many countries in the world. It is a new interdisciplinary of computer networks, wireless communications, micro-sensor technology, the intelligent computing and other fields .In this paper, each module features of wireless sensor network node and performance requirements are introduced. According to the project requirements, this paper put forward a design of the node based on CC2430 radio transceiver chip, also the circuit schematic and working principle of each functional module had been analysised and designed.Due to the special nature of the wireless sensor networks, the demand for the operating system is quite different compared to the traditional operating systems. Therefore, it needs special wireless sensor network operating system (WSNOS) and upper application software to meet requirements of diversity, resource-constrained nodes miniaturization and distributed collaboration. This paper mainly studies on the classic embedded operating system TinyOS operating system designed for the wireless sensor networks and the porting process based on the CC2430 chip. Based on the research of TinyOS architecture, schedule mechanism, component model, event-driven mechanism and nesC language design patterns, nesC language program is completed and built on CC2430 chip.Module test procedures is programmed and test results show that the system is in normal operation, which would ensure long time stability. TinyOS operating has been successfully transplanted into the CC2430 hardware, which provides good reference significance for porting to other hardware platforms and more application platform choices of wireless sensor networks and TinyOS research.
