In traditional ways, when we need to do the data acquisition, we often use the equipment to do this and go to the field. This way costs lots of human input and money. To solve these problems, a data acquisition based on wireless sensor networks is introduced in this paper. This solution realizes a four layered structure that is wireless network, gateway network, remote server and data management system. This structure solves the problems in traditional ways, reducing the human cost, having the high expansibility. The user can upgrade every module. The system is realized by that place some wireless sensor node in the area. The nodes in the field organize wireless sensor network. Through the integration gateway, the system access GPRS network and then access Internet network. The collected data is submitted to the server, the data management system can monitor the WSN and operator the data.Firstly, deficiencies of traditional ways in data acquisition and discusses the development of wireless sensor network. This paper brings up a design of data acquisition and realizes the structure. The key module is discussed in this paper:learning the open source embedded operation system TinyOS and the programming language nesC, doing the embedded development with nesC language, learning the wireless sensor network routing algorithm and bringing up a new routing protocol based on K-medoids clustering algorithm. This structure is supported the expanded. Finally, this paper does the test for every module and proves the system is validated.
