Prison is a highly important national organ of punishment and confinement, whichis responsible for maintaining the stability of the society, decreasing and preventing thecriminal activities. In recent years, the traditional management method of the prison,with low efficiency, inadequate police force, weak foresee mechanism andunpredictable prisoner tendency, has been proved hard to adapt to the new requirementsas the number of the mobsters increased steadily. Consequently, the underlying dangers,such as prison breaks and insurrections, abound in the prison and in view to them.So,over the years, with the rapid development of the Internet, Multimedia Technology andcommunication technology, applying a series of emerging technologies to themanagement of the prison to speed up the information construction of the prison hasbecome a significant Content of Research.Wireless sensor networks is the set of wireless communications, informationprocessing functions and data collection of the new type of the self-organization of thedistributed data acquisition networks. Zigbee technology is a most representative ofemerging wireless sensor networks, with an unified technical standards and low-power,low-cost characteristics and so on. It has deep influence in peoples’ life quantity, theimprovement of companies’ economic benefits, the level of social information andenhancement of public security.In this thesis, the structure and function of ZigBee protocol standard on all floorsare introduced, as well as representative algorithm in localization technology field ofWSN in recent years. And in order to improve the positioning accuracy of the RSSIalgorithm for the purpose of detailed analysis of the positioning process and thepositioning principle of the traditional RSSI algorithm. Major improvements wirelesssensor network localization algorithm-based on the receive signal strength indication(RSSI) to improve the positioning accuracy. Through the selective analysis of theCC2431hardware locating engine working principle, we realized the hardwareconfiguration of the gateway node, beacon node and blind node in the positioningsystem, beacon node and blind node. We get the data between the sending and receivingprocess in the various types of nodes in the positioning system. And then we completethe software design of the gateway nodes, beacon nodes and blind nodes. And on thisbasis, by incorporating the practical needs of prison officers’ work, a new kind ofpositioning and monitoring system is devised. And, considering the practical needs ofthe work of prison officers, it brings up a deployment scheme for location nodes. Andthen, details are given concerning the analysis of the structure of monitoring software onPC-side, the design and realization of serial communication, and the design of systemdatabase and software module; such functions as real-time display of system monitoring data, positioning and tracking, basic information management and real-time alarm arerealized. Finally, through preliminary tests, the system operates normally with functionsof real-time positioning and original data acquisition and processing.
