As public transportation quickly develops and city transit management becomesmore experienced in China, conventional extensive management offered by transitcompanies can no longer meet the demands of the new, fast-paced society. TheInternet and IOT has seeped its way into the contemporary everyday life and opens upnew paths and opportunities for the transit system. Some key focuses in the next stepof public transit development will include controlling of transit vehicles through acentralized network, incorporating more technology in the ways of management, andraising the efficiency of public transit system. The article takes a closer look at the demands of public transit management andtackle its problems. Taking advantage of technologies such as the GPS, wirelesstransmission, WebGIS and the Internet, based on the Internet B/S architecture, alongside softwares such as GoogleMaps, Java and Oracle database, The BusReal-time Monitor System Based on GoogleMaps implement to locate the exactposition of the desired transit vehicle, command and dispatch running of the desiredtransit vehicle, with an user-friendly interface available on web browsers. To begin with, this article will briefly introduce the background information ofthe level of bus real-time monitor system development both in China and aboard, andit will explain the importance and the purpose of the topic. Moreover, it will talkabout the demands of public transit and system design of bus real-time monitorsystem. Next the article wraps up with rectifying method during locate the vehiclepositions using the GoogleMaps grid algorithm. Finally it will describe thoughtprocess and actual realization in greater details about the main modules of the BusReal-time Monitor System Based on GoogleMaps. The proposed technology in this article has already been put to actual use. Fromthe results so far the proposed system fulfills a majority of the requirements of publictransit monitoring management. It shapes a new system of public transit managementand takes on a leading role in the future development in the field.
