Technique Research Of Grid-Based WebGIS

This thesis, which is one of subtask of the National 863 Project, "theDemonstration Application of Spatial Information Grid", focuses on how to takeadvantage of Grid Computing and Web Services to overcome the flaws of currentGeographic Infomation System (GIS) in the distributed environment. Through theintensive research on the technique of Grid Computing and Web Services, as well asthe abstract specification and implementation specifciation of Open GeospatialConsotium (OGC), the concept and model of the Grid-based WebGIS is presentedand the related testbed has been developed to prove it correct and feasible. Becausethis framework inherits from Grid Computing and Web Services, the limitation ofthe two techniques has also been extended. To avoid that, based on the ServiceOriented Architecture(SOA), the idea of Service Oriented GIS has been presentedand some experiments of key techniques such as service description and servicechoreography have been performed.
