With the era of mobile Internet, smart phones are profoundly changed andimpacted people’s lives, working and the others field. As major user interactiveinterface, the720P HD TFT-LCD screen has become the dominant display panel inthe mobile phone market. TFT-LCD driver IC as the interface between display screenand processor of mobile phone, its performance will directly impact the quality ofdisplay and system power consumption.In order to adapt to the handheld mobile devices with slim and light productdemand, a miniaturization, low power consumption, high integration, high colorresolution and low-cost design is main challenges to small and medium-sizehigh-definition TFT-LCD driver IC layout design.In this paper, In this paper, the key technology of design and implementation ofthe layout for a720P high-definition TFT-LCD driver IC is presented as follows:The mixed-signal CMOS process with five WELL used to improve integrationand to reduce the power consumption of the chip; based on reasonable layout floorplan, place normal device directly under the PAD and other space-saving designtechniques to reduce the chip size and costs; used the COG packaging,3hierarchyStagger PAD and Fine Pitch layout methods to achieve high color resolution output;In order to ensure the reliability and stability of the chip, the layout design alsoinclude manufacturing technology DFM, signal integrity analysis SI, antenna effectsand Latch-up relate technical consideration, to make sure high quality of the layoutdesign and minimize the size of the chip at the same time.This design used110nm four metal layers, one poly CMOS mixed-voltage, andmixed-signal process. It can drive high-resolution amorphous silicon TFT-LCD panel,maximum support720RGB*1280resolution, total output16.7M full-color display,integrated the2160Source drive signals and the1280Gate timing control signal,power supply circuit and timing controller TCON. The final evaluation results provedthat the design meets the international market performance of similar products.
