Research On The Problem Of Social Responsibility Of Journalists During The Period Of Social Transformation

This paper tries to understand the social responsibility and the main significanceof journalists in the theory of the social and historical development, with the help ofMarx materialism; it analyzes thoroughly the reason of age for Journalists’ socialresponsibility problems from the perspectives of sociology, ethics, philosophy, andstrives to find possible ways to journalists’ social responsibility.During the period of transformation, people’s consciousness of freedom isincreasing, viewpoints of value are becoming complex, and social conflicts areintensifying. Journalists are supposed to undertake the necessary social responsibility,standing in the height of social development, and to clearly understand the social andpolitical system, economic system, culture and moral tradition. During the period ofsocial transformation, journalists should bear the actual responsibility to keep watchpeople, represent people, supervise the government, safeguard national interests, andso on.Journalists’ social responsibility derives from the individual’s sense of socialresponsibility, that is, social responsibility. Without it, chain reaction will inevitablyhappen, viewpoints of value will be in disorder, then the right of news freedom will beabused, and eventually the news occupation behaviors beyond the moral bottom lineand legal red line appears repeatedly. The problem of journalists’ social responsibilityis a unique phenomenon under the background of social transformation. During theperiod of transformation, because of the imperfectness of the news laws andmanagement system, journalists could ignore the commitment to social responsibilityand moral bottom line according to their entirely personal or organizational interests.The possible ways to improve the journalists’ social responsibility should be onthe individual of journalists. There are some important aspects to improve theresponsibility of journalists, like to consciously safeguard the socialist core values, tocarry on the freedom of the press, to sort out the relationship between rights and obligations and social responsibility, to abide by the law and to improve the personalmoral cultivation. Without doubt, it is also an organic part of improving the journalists’social responsibility to strengthen social supervision and self-discipline mechanismconstruction, to actively improve the news legal system and optimization ofjournalists’ social responsibility environment for the government.
