The fast emerging Internet has been penetrated into all the areas of politics,economy, culture and social life in China, and with the internet public opinion appearsconstantly, it is more and more important to govern it.The internet public opinionplays the roles of democratic supervision, information communication and auxiliarydecision-making in public governance.The internet public opinion is testing thegovernment’s governance ability unceasingly,and also has been testing the socialpublic bearing capacity.The management of internet public opinion in China hasexperienced five stages,and the internet public opinion management systems in localgovernments at all levels are gradually established.On the whole, although the currentinternet public opinion management in local governments has certain development,theprocess of internet public opinion management still has some problems, such as thegovernment’s untimely response, unscientific processing method, single internetpublic opinion platform, imperfect concrete network public opinion managementsystem, which has caused many adverse effects. Based on the theory of goodgovernance and the analysis of specific case, the local government’s internet publicopinion management measures need further improvement. It is a must to change thelocal government’s governance concept, establish internal coordinationcommunication mechanism among government departments, improve the localinternet laws and regulations, further promote the construction of e-government,strengthen the network users’ self-discipline, improve network users’ subjectconsciousness in internet public opinion, strengthen the collaboration interactionbetween the government and the network media, perfect the Internet industrystandards, and improve the quality of media practitioners. |
